THE 2011 YOUNG SIMBA PROGRAM
"Reaching Them So We Can Teach Them!"
@ The Greensboro School Of Creativity

The Young Simba D.R.E.A.M. Program started with a group of Freshman college students in 2005 in the basement of the library The focus was to impress upon them REAL LIFE SKILLS AS TAUGHT BY AN OLDER, WISER, LIFE SEASONED AND EXPERIENCED ADULT. They also learned the importance & ease of graduating with a Bachelors degree, being a VERY Well Rounded citizen with the capabilities to be HEALTHY, WEALTHY & WISE and obtaining a Ph D before they turned 30 years old. It was also practice for when the opportunity presented itself to impress these same lessons on the 9 to 17 year old age group. With God’s will & the help of the Greensboro School of Creativity, that opportunity has finally presented itself.
In an effort to enhance & improve our graduation rate through literacy & creative alternative methods, The Young Simba D.R.E.A.M. Program has now grown into a much needed Community Development Initiative that serves as a “Creative Coming of Age” intensive for our youth.
The HEALTH aspect (meditation, movement, stress & anger management, fearlessness, personal development & self determination, healing and nutrition, childhood obesity) will be integrated into the six weeks and will be addressed at the beginning of each day.
The WEALTH aspect (basic human needs, cash flow quadrants, job and entrepreneur training, life skill development and the value of hard work, accountability and leadership training, how to interview, web design and e-commerce, creating multiple streams of income and philanthropy) will be addressed in various parts throughout the summer and will be taught through different aspects of the lessons.
Our Nutrition segment will include a healthy and balanced meal with daily hands on lessons concerning nutrition and diet.
The WISDOM aspect (literacy, dreaming, social skill enhancement, relationship and gender harmonics, continuous learning, high school graduation, Ph D preparation, gang intervention and community development and involvement) will be taught within various lessons throughout the six weeks.
The entire curriculum will progressively build upon the previous day’s lesson and the previous week. This sequence of event style of teaching will culminate on the last Friday with team demonstrations and presentations that will be open to the general public in the afternoon. We encourage all community members to come out to enjoy the festivities.
The Young Simba D.R.E.A.M. Program will be take place June 13th -July 29th. (In 2 Sessions) The program is structured to give the youth knowledge that will last a lifetime and gives the child and family an opportunity to implement each and every strategy in day-to-day life. We also hope that this will not interfere with any summer family travel plans. However, please let us know how we can assist you with scheduling.
Each day is 8 hours in duration, begins at 9 am and is over at 5 pm. Drop offs can be done as early as 8:30 am and pick ups can be done as early as 4:30 pm BUT no later than 5:30 pm.
We are very enthusiastic in the growth potential of the Young Simba D.RE.A.M. Program locally, nationally and quite possibly internationally. With as many as 3 facilitators involved per course section and small class participation sizes of 12 to 20 creative initiates, the mathematical probability of a more personal involvement with the youth are that much greater.
This Community Development Initiative is open to both male and female.
There are 3 levels of tuition for our camp.
1 week of Camp is $100
3 weeks camp is $$285
Both 3 week camps is $550
There are discounts for families that may have more than one youth attending.
Currently the Young Simba D.R.E.A.M. Program is seeking additional funding resources and donations to be able to offer scholarships for those who may be experiencing a financial hardship.
Please check back often for scholarship opportunities.
Non-refundable deposits of $50 holds a space for one youth for one week and payment IN FULL is due BEFORE the start of each session. Please make all tuition payments or donations in the form of checks or money orders out to: The Greensboro School of Creativity.
